Alumni Connections

Union Graduate College also has a strong relationship with more than 5,000 alumni all over the world. We highly recommend that students to take advantage of the services listed below, as well as encourage alumni to participate in them. The result is an outstanding learning experience for both students and alumni.

Career Advisors

Alumni all over the country are willing to serve as career contacts for UGC students and fellow alumni. Whether students or alumni are interested in relocating to a new geographic area post-graduation, learning more about a particular company or functional area, or just want some general career advice, UGC alumni are willing and able to assist you.

Alumni connections are made by Natalia Kutzer, Alumni Career Outreach Coordinator.

Employer Panels

Panel discussions featuring alumni, as well as local business professionals and friends of the college, are held throughout the academic year. Topics range from interviewing tips, salary negotiation, and additional subjects relevant to the business word at the time. Employer panels are open to all students and alumni.

Information Sessions

Local businesses often request to come to campus in order to hold information sessions for UGC students. Many of these businesses employ our alumni who will frequently join their HR representatives at these informational meetings. Most often, these sessions are to advertise internship and job openings, so students are highly encouraged to attend. A chance for networking is generally available after the informational portion of the evening has ended.

Mentors

Union Graduate College conducts a yearly mentor program that pairs students with local alumni based on their areas of interest, both personal and professional. Students are required to go through a formal application and interview process with the Coordinator of Career Services and Alumni Career Outreach Coordinator prior to being matched with a mentor. Students are required to attend a kick-off event, a wrap-up event, and to have at least 3 face-to-face meetings with their mentors over the course of an academic year. Students will be notified at the beginning of the academic year of the program’s inception, and more information is available by clicking here.

Networking Events

Alumni are invited to participate in a number of networking events throughout the academic year. A select number of current students will be invited to attend these events to meet and network with alumni in order to expand their professional networks. Signing up is mandatory and business professional dress is expected at all alumni networking events.

Occasionally, networking events will take place outside of the Capital Region (i.e. New York City, Boston) and a select number of current students may be invited to accompany the Alumni Career Outreach Coordinator.

Resume Critiques

UGC alumni working in Human Resources-related fields, or with extensive experience reviewing resumes, will be invited to participate in resume critique weeks on campus, generally on their lunch hour or after business hours. Resume critique weeks with alumni are done by sign-up only, and are first come, first serve. Resume critiques with the Coordinator of Career Services are available year round by appointment.

Site Visits

Visits to companies where our alumni are employed will be scheduled throughout the academic year. Current students are invited to join UGC representatives to learn more about companies both within and outside the Capital Region. Visits generally include discussions with functional areas within the company (i.e. Finance, Human Resources, Marketing, etc.) and a tour of the offices.

Alumni - Krystal Hammond
The MAT program has been described as both prestigious and well-renowned by many people that I have spoken with. This, along with my love for Union, led me to choose the program and so far I am extremely satisfied. The faculty is excellent and they provide a strong base for each student in their journey to becoming a teacher.
